The Füssen is a passenger motor ship on the Forggensee and designed as a day excursion ship in line and ferry traffic. The owner is the city of Füssen , which has operated shipping on the Forggensee since 1957. The ship has around 400 seats and is a so-called headlander , where the boarding takes place via a flap in the forward stem . This enables fast mooring and doffing in ferry operations. Entry is also stepless.

The shipping season runs from the beginning of June to October 15, when the Forggensee is completely blocked.

history

The ship was built in 1994 under construction number 133 at the Lux shipyard in Niederkassel-Mondorf on the Rhine. The client was the Waldecker Fahrgastschifffahrt , for which the first use took place from 1994 to 2000 under the name Wappen von Edertal on the Edersee . In the spring of 2000, the city of Füssen bought the ship , which was approved for 428 people, as a supplement to the existing Allgäu , which can hold 210 people. The truck transport from Edersee to Forggensee was carried out in March 2001. For this, the ship was dismantled into several parts. In Füssen, the ship was given the name of the owner's town, where it is also registered. Passengers have a saloon each on the main deck and one on the upper deck. The open spaces are in the stern of the upper deck and on the large sun deck. The ship also has an on-board bistro and toilets.

The musical The Swan Prince - Live Your Dream has been performed several times on the ship since 2016 .
