After reconstruction

The F-Class , also Concord-Class, was a ship class of the shipping company DDG "Hansa" .

history

In 1974/75 the DDG "Hansa" acquired six identical ships from the Greek shipping company Michael A. Karageorgis. The ships built at the Japanese shipyards Mitsui Shipbuilding & Engineering in Osaka and Nipponkai Heavy Industries in Toyama were of the Mitsui Concord 18 type , a simple Liberty replacement ship type . The units originally designed for use as trampers received various modifications after they were taken over by the DDG "Hansa". Two ships, the Aristogenis and Aristokleidis , were converted by Blohm + Voss into the heavy-lift ships Trifels and Trautenfels by installing two Stülcken heavy lift masts each . The Trautenfels received 300-ton masts, while the Trifels installed slightly more powerful 320 -ton harnesses , which made the Trifels the most powerful heavy lift ship in the world after the conversion . The heavy lift units were used in liner operations to the Persian Gulf and other typical Hansa shipping areas.

The remaining four ships initially only received an additional 50-tonne heavy lift boom before they were put into service by DDG "Hansa". A few years later, in 1978/79, these units were extended by 21.75 m by the Jurong Shipyard in Singapore and converted into a 924 TEU full container ship. The Hansa Line between the United States and Europe became her route.

After the Deutsche Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft “Hansa” filed for bankruptcy on August 18, 1980, all six ships were sold, some of which remained in liquidation for a short time for DDG Hansa until they were sold . The four container ships were acquired by Hapag-Lloyd International in Singapore and integrated into the Hapag-Lloyd route network ; the two heavy lift ships went to Greek owners.

technology

The main propulsion of the ships consisted of a seven-cylinder Mitsui / B&W diesel engine of the type 7 K 62 EF with a speed of 144 revolutions per minute each, which acted directly on a fixed propeller. There was no bow thruster .
