FA Bohm

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The FA Böhm company was a harmonica manufacturer in Untersachsenberg . It was founded in 1850 by Friedrich August Böhm and developed, alongside CA Seydel Söhne and FA Rauner , into one of the largest companies in the Klingenthal area.

history

The company's founder was a trained violin maker and married the daughter of a former harmonica maker . Production was expanded to include concertinas in 1854 and accordions in 1883 . The decision to no longer sell the goods through dealers in Klingenthal and Markneukirchen but to sell them through their own business contacts led to the company's success . The export took place in all five continents. New factories were built in 1887 and 1900. By 1900 FA Böhm had grown so big that Hohner made inquiries about the company. 200 people were employed in the company and around 800 people worked at home for FA Böhm. At the beginning of the global economic crisis , FA Böhm merged with Seydel and Rauner in 1929 to form Rauner-Seydel-Böhm AG . This chapter ended unsuccessfully in 1933. After that, parts of the factory were shut down and rented out. The production of harmonicas continued on a small scale. The production of harmonicas ended in the mid- 1950s . Accordions were produced a little longer. New instruments from the music electronics division developed very successfully and were sold under the steam boat trademark in the GDR and the entire Eastern European market. This included keyboards and amplifiers . With the slogan Böhm-Electronic , the semi-public company FA Böhm KG acquired a good reputation over decades. In 1972 it was completely nationalized and incorporated into the VEB Klingenthaler Harmonikawerke .
