FCF Monteux

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Football Club Féminin Monteux Vaucluse or short FCF Monteux is a French women's football club from Monteux , one between Carpentras and Avignon located Provencal town.

history

In 1981, women interested in football founded a department at the local sports club Olympique Monteux. In 1988 the company set up its own business under its name, which is still valid today. Monteux's club colors are red and white. The league eleven play their home games in the municipal Stade Saint-Hilaire on Plaine des Sports Raymond Chabran , which has an artificial turf pitch.

FCF Monteux is known for its successful youth work. There were only three players from the club in the French B-youth squad that became world champions in 2012 (see below, "Known players"); In 2015 he was awarded the label École de football féminin by the French football association FFF .

League affiliation and achievements

FCF Monteux has been part of Division 2 Féminine without interruption from the summer of 1997 up to and including the 2015/16 season and played an important role in it over this long period: the southern French women finished nine seasons in their respective second division season in one of the top three positions in the table, twice even as group winners (2002 and 2003) and five times as runner-up (in 1998 after their promotion, also in 2001, 2005, 2008 and 2011). No other club was so close to promotion to the first division so often - and yet failed every time. This was particularly bitter in 2002, when the women's team had already been promoted, but the FFF had decided to allow the selection team of the national youth development center , the CNFE Clairefontaine , to participate in the highest league and to deny the worst of the three second division group winners the promotion. This position was occupied in the subsequent championship round by the three group winners of FCF Monteux.

In the cup competition for the Coupe de France , which was only introduced with the 2001/02 season , Monteux reached the national main competition more often, but was only able to  advance relatively far once - this was when it was first held . This year the women even eliminated a first division club, HSC Montpellier , before they had to admit defeat to Saint-Brieuc FF in the round of the last eight teams .
