Challenge de France féminin 2001/02

The competition for the Challenge de France féminin in the 2001/02 season was the first playout of the French football cup for women's teams . Participation was only compulsory for women in the first and second leagues ( Championnat National 1 A and 1 B ); 372 clubs registered their league team for this premiere.

In this competition, Toulouse FC prevailed against the women of FC Lyon in the final and thus secured the trophy. Since Toulouse had also won this season's championship, the southern French women - most of whom had switched from local rivals TOAC to TFC just before the start of the season - were also the first doublé winner in French women's football.

The competition was held in the classic cup mode; This means in particular that the respective fixtures were drawn without seed lists or a performance or regional pre-sorting of the clubs from all clubs still in the competition and only one game was played at the end of which a winner had to be determined (even if it was a penalty shoot-out - an extension in the event of a tie after 90 minutes was not provided), which then qualified for the next round, while the loser was eliminated. The home rights were also determined by lot for each match - with the exception of the final, which took place on a neutral seat - but with the restriction that clubs that had to compete against an eleven that were at least two league levels higher were automatically given home rights.

After completing the qualifying rounds organized by the regional subdivisions of the FFF regional association , the twelve top division teams also intervened in the round of sixteen .
