Challenge de France féminin 2010/11

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The competition for the Challenge de France féminin in the 2010/11 season was the tenth edition of the French football cup for women's teams . Participation was only compulsory for women in the first and second leagues.

The defending champion was Paris Saint-Germain FC ; But this time the women from the capital were eliminated in the round of the last 32 participants against a second division team. Instead, the women of AS Saint-Étienne won the competition in their first cup final. The losing team of last year's finalists HSC Montpellier, however, was in a French cup final for the sixth time and lost it for the third time.

The competition was held in the classic cup mode; This means in particular that the respective fixtures were drawn without seed lists or a performance or regional pre-sorting of the clubs from all clubs still in the competition and only one game was played at the end of which a winner had to be determined (even if it was a penalty shoot-out - an extension in the event of a tie after 90 minutes was not provided), which then qualified for the next round, while the loser was eliminated. Home rights were also determined for each match by drawing lots - with the exception of the final, which took place in a neutral place at different locations every year - but with the restriction that clubs that have to compete against an eleven playing at least two league levels higher automatically have home rights got.

For the first time in the history of the competition, the twelve first division clubs no longer intervened in the sixteenth but already in the thirty-second finals - the so-called second national round (Deuxième tour fédéral)  . For the lower-class participants, this was preceded by several qualification rounds organized by the regional subdivisions of the FFF regional association .
