Coupe de France féminine 2019/20

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The competition for the Coupe de France féminine in the 2019/20 season was the 19th edition of the French football cup for women's teams . Participation is only compulsory for women in the first to third division. This season 759 clubs have registered, the highest number of participants to date.

The defending champions were the women of Olympique Lyon , who prevailed again in the final. The competition, which was interrupted before the semi-finals due to the virus pandemic , was only brought to an end in early August 2020.

The competition is held according to the classic cup mode; This means in particular that the respective fixtures will be drawn without seeding lists or a performance-based or from the round of 16 without regional pre-sorting of the clubs from all clubs still in competition and only one game will be played, at the end of which a winner must be determined (and be it through a penalty shoot-out - extension in the event of a tie after 90 minutes is not provided), which then qualifies for the next round, while the loser is eliminated. Home rights are also determined by lot for each match - with the exception of the final, which takes place in a neutral place at different locations every year - but with the restriction that clubs that have to compete against an eleven that are at least two league levels higher automatically have home rights to get.

After the qualification rounds organized by the regional subdivisions of the regional association FFF have been completed , the twelve top division teams will intervene in the competition in the sixteenth finals; by 2017/18 they had to do this in the thirty-second finals, the so-called second federal round (Deuxième tour fédéral) . The 24 second division teams are already involved two rounds beforehand ( Premier tour fédéral or first federal round). For the thirty-second finals (start of the main round) this time, 15 third and three fourth division teams qualified, while two second division teams ( Toulouse FC and Nantes FC ) had already been eliminated. As the last remaining lower class club, the Arras FCF failed in the quarterfinals; the Girondins Bordeaux, on the other hand, survived this round as well, but had not been able to end a game after 90 minutes, instead they had to go to penalties every time.
