Coupe de France féminine 2018/19

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The competition for the Coupe de France féminine in the 2018/19 season was the 18th edition of the French football cup for women's teams . Participation is only compulsory for women in the first to third division.

The defending champion was Paris Saint-Germain FC , this time eliminated in the quarter-finals against Olympique Lyon . Lyon prevailed against Lille OSC in the final and secured the trophy for the eighth time.

The competition is held according to the classic cup mode; This means in particular that the respective fixtures will be drawn without seeding lists or a performance-based or from the round of 16 without regional pre-sorting of the clubs from all clubs still in competition and only one game will be played, at the end of which a winner had to be determined (and be it through a penalty shoot-out - extension in the event of a tie after 90 minutes is not provided), which then qualifies for the next round, while the loser is eliminated. Home rights are also determined by lot for each match - with the exception of the final, which takes place in a neutral place at different locations every year - but with the restriction that clubs that have to compete against an eleven that are at least two league levels higher automatically have home rights to get.

After completion of the qualifying rounds organized by the regional subdivisions of the regional association FFF , the second division players continue to intervene in the first national round, this time the twelve top division teams only in the sixteenth finals; in previous years they had to do this in the so-called second national round (Deuxième tour fédéral) , which in previous years corresponded to the thirty-second finals with 64 participants. The background to this change is the association's intention to at least slightly reduce the number of compulsory games of the national players, who predominantly play first division, with a view to the 2019 World Cup in France .
With Arras FCF , AS Nancy , Racing Saint-Denis, FF Yzeure Allier Auvergne and FC Montauban, five second division teams were eliminated before the thirty-second finals; however, reached three fourth division as a class deepest participants this round, namely the Valenciennes FC , the FC Pontcharra Saint-Loup and the ES Chilly . Of these, only Chilly was also in the sixteenth-finals, and with the Avenir Club Avignon , the last third-rate representative was eliminated in the second round.
