Challenge de France féminin 2004/05

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The competition for the Challenge de France féminin in the 2004/05 season was the fourth play of the French football cup for women's teams . Participation was only compulsory for women in the first and second leagues.

Defending champion was FC Lyon , which had no women's football department since the beginning of this season; this had gone over to the financially strong local rival Olympique Lyon . Lyon's players reached the final again this year under the new club colors, in which Juvisy FCF prevailed - albeit only on penalties - and won the cup for the first time.

The competition was held in the classic cup mode; This means in particular that the respective fixtures were drawn without seed lists or a performance or regional pre-sorting of the clubs from all clubs still in the competition and only one game was played at the end of which a winner had to be determined (even if it was a penalty shoot-out - an extension in the event of a tie after 90 minutes was not provided), which then qualified for the next round, while the loser was eliminated. Home rights were also determined for each match by drawing lots - with the exception of the final, which took place in a neutral place at different locations every year - but with the restriction that clubs that have to compete against an eleven playing at least two league levels higher automatically have home rights got.

After completing the qualifying rounds organized by the regional subdivisions of the FFF regional association , eleven of the twelve first division teams also intervened in the round of 32 - the only exception was the CNFE Clairefontaine , to which the FFF allowed participation in the national championship, but not in the cup competition. The background for this ambivalent attitude was also the pressure from several second-class clubs, for which this team had already blocked a place in the league.

penalties shoot

The final penalty shootout to determine a winner was 3: 3 after every five shots; Bussaglia, Tonazzi and Mugneret-Béghé had scored for Juvisy, while Soubeyrand and striker Pichon failed. On the Lyon's side, Grangeon, Locatelli and Fair, Slaton and Brétigny were shot. Then Guilbert, Welsh and Guiné turned one after the other - and due to Dusang's miss, Juvisy's soccer players were able to receive the trophy.
