Challenge de France féminin 2006/07

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The competition for the Challenge de France féminin in the 2006/07 season was the sixth play of the French football cup for women's teams . Participation was only compulsory for women in the first and second leagues.

The defending champion was HSC Montpellier , which prevailed again this year and won the cup for the second time in its second final. The defeated Olympique Lyon finalists were in the final for the third time in a row and lost for the third time only after a penalty shoot-out .

The competition was held in the classic cup mode; This means in particular that the respective fixtures were drawn without seed lists or a performance or regional pre-sorting of the clubs from all clubs still in the competition and only one game was played at the end of which a winner had to be determined (even if it was a penalty shoot-out - an extension in the event of a tie after 90 minutes was not provided), which then qualified for the next round, while the loser was eliminated. Home rights were also determined for each match by drawing lots - with the exception of the final, which took place in a neutral place at different locations every year - but with the restriction that clubs that have to compete against an eleven playing at least two league levels higher automatically have home rights got.

After completing the qualifying rounds organized by the regional subdivisions of the FFF regional association , eleven of the twelve first division teams also intervened in the round of 32 - the only exception was the CNFE Clairefontaine , which the FFF allowed to participate in the national championship, but not in the cup competition allowed. The background for this ambivalent attitude was also the pressure from several second-class clubs, for which this team had already blocked a place in the league.

Special occurrences

The spectators saw a dramatic final, especially in the second half, in which Montpellier had a two-goal advantage taken shortly before the final whistle. The subsequent penalty shoot-out to decide the game was already over after six shots, because the first three shooters of HSC Montpellier (Ramos, Nécib and Faisandier) converted their penalty kicks, while Lepailleur, Abily and Bompastor failed on Lyon's side.
