Élodie Ginette Thomis (born August 13, 1986 in Colombes ) is a French soccer player . The striker was most recently under contract to Olympique Lyon and played for the French national team for a dozen years .

Club career

Thomis began her career at a club from Épinay-sur-Seine and later moved to Colombes FF . In 2002 she made her debut in the jersey of CNFE Clairefontaine in Division 1 Féminin . After three years, she moved to Montpellier HSC , where she won the cup competition in 2006 and 2007 . She has played for Olympique Lyon since 2007 and won seven championships in a row (2008 to 2014), the cup in 2008 and 2012 to 2015, as well as the Champions League in 2011 and 2012 , although she was only able to watch the 2012 final due to a suspension. The fast, technically good attacker was also a successful sprinter in her youth.

In 2015, Élodie Thomis prepared for the time after her playing career and completed a one-year apprenticeship as a camerawoman at OLTV, Lyon's own television station.

As a national player

With the U-19 national team, she took part in the European Championship three times and was able to win the competition in 2003. She also took part in the 2005 European Championship and the 2006 U-20 World Championship . Her first international match for the senior national team was against Italy in June 2005 . So far, she has played 141 times for France and scored 32 goals (as of July 30, 2017). She was in the French squad for the 2011 World Cup in Germany , played in all six Bleues games, scored two goals and finished fourth in the tournament. Thomis was also part of the French Olympic squad in 2012 and also played all of the Bleues' matches at this tournament . National coach Bruno Bini also appointed her to the 2013 European Championship squad and used her in all four of France's games, three of which only as a substitute.

Under Bini's successor, Philippe Bergeroo , she was accepted into the “ international club of 100 ” at the beginning of February 2014 on the occasion of a friendly against Sweden and has become a bit more dangerous again. At the 2015 World Cup in Canada, she played four of five games for France and scored one goal in the round of 16 against South Korea . She is also part of the French squad for the 2016 Olympic football tournament . Subsequently, it was not taken into account by Olivier Echouafni , who had replaced Bergeroo, but for over half a year before he replaced Thomis twice at the SheBelieves Cup in March 2017 and included once in the starting XI. In the summer of the year he also called her to his European championship squad . Shortly after this tournament, the player announced the end of her international career.

She left Lyon after the 2017/18 season.
