Rudolf Boehm (philosopher)

Rudolf Boehm (born December 24, 1927 in Berlin ; † August 29, 2019 in Gent ) was a German philosopher who dealt intensively with phenomenology . He was a professor of philosophy at the University of Ghent and edited some of Edmund Husserl's works .

Live and act

Boehm studied mathematics , physics and philosophy at the universities of Leipzig and Rostock . He was a student of Hans-Georg Gadamer and Karl-Heinz Volkmann-Schluck . From 1948 to 1949 he was an assistant at the philosophical faculty in Rostock and then from 1949 to 1952 in Cologne .

From 1952 to 1967 Boehm worked for the Edmund Husserl Archive in Löwen , which was headed by Herman Leo Van Breda at the time . Boehm also worked as the editor of several of Husserl's writings. In 1967 he was appointed professor of general and modern philosophy at the University of Ghent. He has been retired since 1992.

Boehm published the philosophical journal Kritiek , which has appeared in Dutch since 1981 and was co-founded by him.
