Challenge de France féminin 2005/06

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The competition for the Challenge de France féminin in the 2005/06 season was the fifth draw of the French football cup for women's teams . Participation was only compulsory for women in the first and second leagues.

The defending champion was Juvisy FCF , which was eliminated early this year. The trophy was won by HSC Montpellier , which prevailed for the first time in its second appearance in the final. For the defeated finalists of the Olympique Lyon it was also their second participation in the French cup competition for women's teams, and they were again only defeated on penalties .

The competition was held in the classic cup mode; This means in particular that the respective fixtures were drawn without seed lists or a performance-based or - from the round of 16 - regional pre-sorting of the clubs from all clubs still in competition and only one game was played at the end of which a winner had to be determined (and be it by a penalty shootout - an extension in the event of a tie after 90 minutes was not provided), which then qualified for the next round, while the loser was eliminated. Home rights were also determined for each match by drawing lots - with the exception of the final, which took place in a neutral place at different locations every year - but with the restriction that clubs that have to compete against an eleven playing at least two league levels higher automatically have home rights got.

After completing the qualifying rounds organized by the regional subdivisions of the FFF regional association , eleven of the twelve first division teams also intervened in the round of 32 - the only exception was the CNFE Clairefontaine , which the FFF allowed to participate in the national championship, but not in the cup competition allowed. The background for this ambivalent attitude was also the pressure from several second-class clubs, for which this team had already blocked a place in the league.

Penalty shootout to decide the game

Montpellier was only able to equalize in stoppage time and thus remained just as close in the game as Lyon had succeeded in the semifinals against Toulouse. In the penalty shootout Olympique presented each time; Cruz Traña, Amalfitano and captain Locatelli converted their ball before Dusang missed. Since Lepailleur, Soyer, Abily and Bompastor had scored for Montpellier, the responsibility rested on Lyon's last shooter Brétigny - and she failed from the penalty spot.
