Division 1 Féminine 2005/06
The 2005/06 season of Division 1 Féminine was the 32nd playout of the French women's football championship since the official recognition of women's football by the FFF, the Football Association of France , in 1970 and the first run in the 1974/75 season . The Division 1 Féminine called league was in pure League mode played in a group consisting of a single group, comprising twelve teams, national top division.
Last year's winners were the women of HSC Montpellier , but they could not defend the championship. Rather, the Juvisy FCF prevailed and won its sixth title.
The soccer players of the D1F were no longer pure amateurs; rather, the clubs were allowed to reward them financially for practicing their sport, although the maximum possible remuneration was very moderate compared to men's football. There was also a “federal contract” (contrat fédéral) drawn up by the FFF , which regulated the maximum income levels as well as other rights and obligations of clubs and soccer players.
Qualification and mode of competition
For the eligibility to participate, only the performance of the women's teams in the previous season was taken into account; Qualified were the ten best-placed teams of the previous season as well as two promoted teams from Division 2 Féminine , which was divided into two groups, and who had prevailed in the play-offs of the two season first and second. Thus the following twelve participants started this season:
- from the north and east: CNFE Clairefontaine , promoted USCCO Compiègne , FCF Hénin-Beaumont , Juvisy FCF , Paris Saint-Germain , Olympique Saint-Memmie , FC Vendenheim
- from the west: Newcomers ESOF La Roche , ASJ Soyaux
- from the southeast: Olympique Lyon , defending champions HSC Montpellier , FC Toulouse
The championship was played in a double round of points in which each participant competed in home and away games against each other. The " modified three-point rule " , which was also common in French amateur football well into the 21st century, applied with four points for a win, two for a draw and one for a defeat won on the field; In the event of a tie, the direct comparison and then, if applicable, the better overall goal difference , and if there was still a tie, the higher number of hits, if applicable, were decisive. At the end of the season, the two bottom of the table had to be relegated and were replaced for the coming season by two promoted players from the second division.

When it came to the top game between Juvisy and Montpellier on the third from last game day, the hosts already had 76 out of a possible 76 points on the credit side and could therefore theoretically no longer be overtaken by the defending champions from Languedoc (64 points). The 700 or so spectators at the Stade Georges-Maquin in Viry-Châtillon were faced with a high-scoring encounter in which the visiting team of coach Patrice Lair were 4-0 ahead after 65 minutes, before Juvisy made the result even more bearable with two goals and in the subsequent two games ended his season with clear wins worthy of the championship.
The broad midfield already began from third place in the table, in which Lyon and the women from Toulouse, who completed a particularly poor second half of the season with only five wins, did not even come close to a chance of the runner-up.
In the table cellar, however, an exciting battle against relegation developed in the last quarter of the season. After the 17th matchday, the women of FC Vendenheim were four points ahead of ESOF La Roche and six ahead of Saint-Memmie; Then, however, the Alsatians suffered five defeats in a row - the first of which in La Roche-sur-Yon - while the newly promoted women from the Vendée scored points thanks to an easier remaining program against Compiègne and Saint-Memmie and were able to secure the first non-relegation place. The two relegated teams were replaced for the next season by FCF Condé-sur-Noireau and Stade Briochin from the second division.
