Division 1 Féminine 2007/08

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2007/08 season of Division 1 Féminine was the 34th edition of the French women's football championship since the official recognition of women's football by the FFF, the French Football Association , in 1970 and the first edition in the 1974/75 season . The Division 1 Féminine called league was in pure League mode played in a group consisting of a single group, comprising twelve teams, national top division.

Last year's winners were the women of Olympique Lyon , who defended their title and thus won their second championship.

The soccer players of the D1F were no longer pure amateurs; rather, the clubs were allowed to reward them financially for practicing their sport, although the maximum possible remuneration was very moderate compared to men's football. There was also a “federal contract” (contrat fédéral) drawn up by the FFF , which regulated the maximum income levels as well as other rights and obligations of clubs and soccer players.

Qualification and mode of competition

For the eligibility to participate, only the performance of the women's teams in the previous season was taken into account; Qualified were the nine best-placed teams of the previous season as well as three promoted teams, who had each finished their group in Division 2 Féminine as first in the table. Thus the following twelve participants started this season:

The championship was played in a double round of points in which each participant competed in home and away games against each other. The " modified three-point rule " , which was also common in French amateur football well into the 21st century, applied with four points for a win, two for a draw and one for a defeat won on the field; In the event of a tie, the direct comparison and, if necessary, then the better total goal difference , if there was still a tie, the higher number of hits, if applicable, were decisive. At the end of the season, due to a change in the relevant regulation, this time only the two bottom of the table had to be relegated, who were replaced for the coming season by two promoted players from the second division.

Since a European Cup competition for women's club teams was launched in 2001 , this was the last season for the time being in which only the French champions qualified for it. From the following season, the runners-up in Division 1 Féminine also enjoyed participation.

Juvisy with only one (home) defeat and especially the undefeated Lyon women with an almost insurmountable defense dominated the first division; in a direct comparison between these two teams, there had been two draws. Saint- Brieucs Sonia Haziraj was able to record for himself having scored two of only four goals against the champions this season. Third place in the table, Montpellier, suffered only one defeat away from home - and that of the "basement children" from Hénin-Beaumont - but with a total of just eleven wins could not cause the top duo to be disturbed at any time. The newcomers from Saint-Étienne as fourth in the final table and Vendenheim surprised positively and were able to plan early for another first division season.

In contrast, there was drama in the lower table region up to the last round. After Matchday 19, Toulouse had 39, La Roche 35, Saint-Brieuc 34, promoted Évreux 32 and Hénin-Beaumont 31 points, and the northern French looked like a sure relegated at the time. Then, however, they had three wins in a row (against Saint-Étienne, in Évreux and against Toulouse) and made it to ninth place in the final classification. Saint-Brieuc only saved themselves on the last match day when the Bretons won in Vendenheim, while La Roche lost to Lyon at home and were relegated together with Évreux. These two womenships were replaced the following season by the promoted FCF Condé-sur-Noireau and FCF Nord-Allier Yzeure .

The champions' players

The following players were used under coach Farid Benstiti (in brackets: number of completed point games):

Lyons scored 93 hits: Brétigny 25, Lattaf 15, Kátia 10, Abily, Nécib 8 each, Thomis 7, Bompastor, Cruz Traña 5 each, Dusang 3, Renard 2, Cairaty, Gomes Jatobá, Gonssollin, Lepailleur 1 each; there was also an own goal.

a In the 0-0 draw against Juvisy, Océane Cairaty had to guard the Lyon goal because all three regular goalkeepers - Bente Nordby had not yet been signed at the time - were injured.
