Robert Kro (born September 24, 1958 ) is a former Austrian football professional who was used as a defender. In 1982 he had to announce his resignation due to a serious knee injury.

Career

Bundesliga

Kro started his career as a teenager at the Austrian SC Brunn am Gebirge . He moved to FC Admira Wacker Mödling in 1976 , where he made his Bundesliga debut on February 26, 1977 . In total, he came in six seasons to 97 missions with a cumulative 8,023 game minutes, where he only stayed below the threshold of ten or more missions in his premier season 1976/77 (nine games) and in his final season 1981/82 (two games). Across all of his completed seasons, he was sent three times from the bench to the field and 14 times by his coaches prematurely removed from the game.

Over his entire career, he collected 21 yellow cards and received one red card in the Austrian Bundesliga. According to the database weltfussball.de, however, only 16 of his actions were sanctioned with a yellow card.

Cup

In the ÖFB-Cup , the cup competition of the Austrian soccer teams, he played only one game - in contrast to his continuous appearances in the regular playing times. It was the first leg in the final against SSW Innsbruck , which was lost 1-0 due to a goal by Werner Seubert .

U-21 national team

He was also a regular in the (then) U-21 national team , in which he played together with players like Bruno Pezzey . One of his highlights was the U-21 game against Turkey in 1977 in Izmir . With two defeats against the youth team of the German Democratic Football Association and one draw and one defeat against the selection of the Turkish Football Association , qualification for the U-21 European Football Championship in 1978 was clearly missed.

family

Kro is married and has three daughters.
