Championnat National 1 A 1998/99

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1998/99 season of the Championnat National 1 A was the 25th edition of the French women's football championship since the official recognition of women's football by the FFF, the Football Association of France , in 1970 and the first edition in the 1974/75 season . The Championnat National 1 A was pure League mode in a group consisting of a single group, twelve-team france wide highest league discharged. The French soccer players were officially pure amateurs at the time.

The previous winners of the FC Lyon were unable to repeat their success; instead, the Toulouse Olympique Aérospatial Club won its first championship title.

Qualification and mode of competition

For the right to participate, only the performance in the previous season was taken into account; Qualified were the nine best-placed women's teams of the previous year as well as three climbers from the second division, which is divided into three regional groups (Championnat National 1 B) . Thus, the first division this season included the following participants:

The championship was played in a double round of points in which each club competed in home and away games against each other. With this season, the " modified three-point rule ", which was common in French amateur football into the 21st century, was introduced in the women's league with four points for a win, two for a draw and one for a defeat won on the field; in the event of a tie, first the direct comparison and then, if necessary, the better overall goal difference was decisive. At the end of the season, the three bottom of the table had to be relegated and were replaced for the coming season by the group winners of the three second-class seasons.

a Orléans won the direct comparison with Montpellier with 5: 4 goals each in one win.

The real surprise of the season was the performance of ESOF La Roche, whose women ended the season without a defeat and were also the only women who had not lost to Toulouse. However, the players from the Vendée had made too many draws - including in front of their own audience and against teams from the lower middle of the table such as Caluire and Orléans - and because Toulouse OAC had won all twenty other season point games, ESOF was only runner-up behind the women the " pink city ". No surprise, however, was the fact that Juvisy and Saint-Brieuc were the pursuers of this top duo, while Lyon had a particularly poor season.

Of the three newcomers, the women from Caluire-et-Cuire had secured their place in the class relatively early on, while Orléans and Angers - together with Montpellier Le Crès - had to fight to keep the league until shortly before the end of the season, with newcomer CBOSLA at the end not enough. The team from Anjou had to accompany Bruay and Saint-Quentin in the National 1 B. AS Saint-Quentin had won four games on opposing courts, but remained at home without any victory. These three relegated teams were replaced the following season by Olympique Saint-Memmie , Stade Quimper and FC Félines Saint-Cyr , with the latter "village club" from Ardèche being a first at first division level.
