Division 1 Féminine 2008/09

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2008/09 season of Division 1 Féminine was the 35th playout of the French women's football championship since the official recognition of women's football by the FFF, the Football Association of France , in 1970 and the first playout of a national championship in the 1974/75 season . The Division 1 Féminine called league was in pure League mode played in a group consisting of a single group, comprising twelve teams, national top division.

Last year's winners were the women from Olympique Lyon , who defended their title and thus won their third championship.

The soccer players of the D1F were no longer pure amateurs; Rather, the clubs were allowed them for the exercise of their sport reward financially, although the maximum possible compensation turned out very moderate compared to the men's soccer - with one exception: Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas , whose first men's team just the seventh time in a row French champions had become , also invested heavily in the women's team, whose roster comprised 29 players in 2008/09: four Scandinavians, two Brazilians and one Costa Rican, one Swiss and one Nigerian (see below ) .

Qualification and mode of competition

For the eligibility to participate, only the performance of the women's teams in the previous season was taken into account; The ten best-placed teams from the previous season and promoted teams from Division 2 Féminine were qualified . Thus the following twelve participants started this season:

The championship was played in a double round of points in which each participant competed in home and away games against each other. The " modified three-point rule " , which was also common in French amateur football well into the 21st century, applied with four points for a win, two for a draw and one for a defeat won on the field; In the event of a tie, the direct comparison and, if necessary, then the better total goal difference , if there was still a tie, the higher number of hits, if applicable, were decisive. At the end of the season, due to a change in the relevant regulation, this time only the two bottom of the table had to be relegated, who were replaced for the coming season by two promoted players from the second division.

This was the first season since the introduction of a European Cup competition for women in 2001, at the end of which not only the French champions but also the runners-up in Division 1 Féminine qualified for it.

a Vendenheim did not appear on the last matchday, so that the scheduled encounter was rated as a 3-0 victory for Saint-Brieuc.
b Hénin-Beaumont won the direct comparison with 6: 5 goals each in one win.
c Saint-Étienne won the direct comparison with Paris with a win and a draw.

Juvisy had already achieved 21 wins in the 22 league games in one season - that was in the 2005/06 season  ; but to remain unbeaten like Olympique Lyon this year (and incidentally to come to an average of over five goals per match) meant a new record in the history of the French league since 1992. Hence Montpellier and Juvisy, both of whom came on They suffered their first defeat on the third matchday, never within reach of the defending champions, even when they recorded their only draw against Juvisy on matchday six.
In the duel between the Lyon pursuers, Montpellier lost both direct clashes, but Juvisy only managed six wins in front of their own audience, while the women from Languedoc had nine home wins and were thus able to more than compensate for their weaker away record. The reward for the MHSC was participation in the next season's European Cup.

The midfield teams - including the climbers from Yzeure - followed by a long way in the ranks four to nine, which were only separated by a maximum of three points, but also had a clear lead over the two women from Soyaux and Condé, who fought against it to have to accompany the winless and hopelessly beaten Alsatian women from Vendenheim to the second division. Toulouse was even able to afford a negative series of as many defeats in a row on the last five match days. The direct duel between "veteran" Soyaux and newcomer Condé won the former with two wins, which the ASJ - next to Juvisy the only team that had been part of the league continuously since its inception - could plan another year in the first class. The two relegated women were replaced the following season by ESOF La Roche and AS Montigny-le-Bretonneux , for which the promotion from Division 2 Féminine meant a first.
