French women's football championship 1981/82

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The French women's football championship 1981/82 was the eighth play of this title after the official recognition of women's football by the French Football Association in 1970. The comparable competitions between the world wars remained unofficial, especially since they were organized by an all-women sports association.

The championship 1981/82 - there was no top division in France before 1992 - was played in a mixture of group play - and knockout mode ; In order to take part in the nationwide final round, the women's teams had to qualify at the regional level beforehand. The previous year's champions from AS Etroeungt reached the final in which they on their duration rivals this year, the women of re Stade Reims met. In contrast to the previous three clashes between the two teams in a final, this time the players from Champagne won and thus secured their fifth French championship title.

Preliminary round

First, a regional champion was determined in six leagues of eight women’s teams in a double round of points with home and return matches. These six champions were split into two groups of three, in which each club competed against each other, with one game at home and one away. In the event of a tie - the two-point rule applied  - the better goal difference was decisive. The first two of the group qualified directly for the final, which was held in just one match and also on a neutral place. In the event of a tie, there was no extra time, but the champions were immediately determined in a penalty shoot-out .

In the sources used, no individual results or tables of the six regional leagues can be found, only participants and group winners (below in bold) are named.

Special occurrences

Both finalists ended the game with a different goalkeeper than the one who had been on the grass at kick-off. Just before half-time, Reims' Danielle Vatin and Étrœungts striker Chantal Pani clashed so hard that both had to be replaced; Vatin was replaced by 37-year-old Marie-Louise Butzig, who was able to win a fifth championship title, while her sister was used for Chantal Pani. In the middle of the second half, Sandrine Colombier, whose position was taken by second goalkeeper Carlier, was injured. However, Colombier could not rest because coach Bertrand ordered them to attack and took Couvercelle off the field.
