FC Félines Saint-Cyr

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Football Club Félines Saint-Cyr is a football club from the municipalities of Félines and Saint-Cyr in the northernmost part of the French Ardèche . The club has achieved national importance exclusively through its female soccer players , who at times competed at the highest national league level.

history

The club was founded in 1964 as FC Saint-Cyr ; In 1978 a women's football department was added. Their league team played their home games in Félines. During this time, the club name was expanded to include this location. In the 2010s, the FC expanded its local field of activity and changed its name again, so that it is currently called FC Félines Saint-Cyr Peaugres . Also in the 2010s, the club no longer has a women's team, but only a few Poussines and Benjamines , i.e. D to F youth girls who are allowed to play in mixed teams. In September 2013 it had a total of almost 200 members; however, the three municipalities from which the club members are primarily recruited only have around 4,800 inhabitants.

The club colors are red and white. In 2015, Séverine Desmartin was led by a woman.

League affiliation and achievements

The woman elf first time came in 1998 promotion to the second division, and only a year later, she had even for participation in that time still Championnat National 1A -called top division of France qualified. The following first division season 1999/2000 showed the new league players their limits; with only two wins against the later relegated US Orléans and over 90 goals conceded in the 22 point games - including a 0:13 at the eventual champions Toulouse OAC  - the relegation was not to create. By 2004, the FCFSC returned to the second division, then the team slid a floor lower, disappeared in 2007 in the Division d'Honneur and in 2009 even in a lower regional division.

At the first staging of the national cup competition , which was created in 2001 , the footballers of the club made it to the round of 16 , in which they were only barely defeated by the higher-class Juvisy FCF , while in the following season they were eliminated in the round of 16. After that, they failed to qualify for the main competition.

Well-known former players

In the six years that FC Félines Saint-Cyr played in the top leagues, there were no better-known footballers or those who later developed to a higher level elsewhere in its ranks. Before that, however, from 1987 to 1994, one of the greatest French player personalities ever wore the red and white dress of the small club as a teenager and young adult: France's later record national player , Sandrine Soubeyrand , who comes from the region .
