Amel Majri (born January 25, 1993 in Monastir ) is a Tunisian - French soccer player .

Club career

Majri grew up near Lyon in France and began playing football in the youth of AS Vénissieux Minguettes . After going through the Minguettes 'girls' teams, she moved to Olympique Lyon in the summer of 2007 . In Lyon she was included in the reserve squad in the 2007/08 season and played in three years in 21 games for the team in the third division. After good performances for the reserve team in the 2009/10 season with 5 goals in 17 games, she made her professional debut on March 20, 2011 in a 10-1 win against ESOF La Roche in Division 1 Féminine . In her first season with OL, she won the UEFA Women's Champions League and Division 1 Féminine. In the 2011/12 season she was a regular in the Lyon U-19 team; in the women's team she only played three games with a goal of her own, a year later she was used in nine of the 22 point games. The left-footed midfielder has good ball technique.

As a national player

Majri was a member of the Tunisian women's national soccer team and had previously played in Tunisia's U-20 national team since February 2012.
At the beginning of 2014, however, national coach Philippe Bergeroo appointed Amel Majri to the 24-man French squad for the Cyprus Cup in March of this year, where she was still unable to play. On May 7, 2014, Bergeroo replaced her in the Bleues World Cup qualifier against Hungary a good ten minutes before the final whistle, and Majri scored a goal in the final minutes to make it 4-0. In her second game, three months later and again against Hungary, she was in the starting line-up - and then in the left-back position . She was also part of the squad for the 2015 World Cup . Her first World Cup appearance was in the last group game against Mexico (5-0). Then she only came back to play in the quarter-finals against Germany, which were lost 4-5 on penalties. Shortly before the end of regular time, she underwent a handball in the penalty area. Célia Šašić converted the penalty due to equalize. She was also part of the French squad at the 2016 Olympic football tournament and the 2017 European championship squad ; Due to an injury, Majri was unable to travel to the European Championships in the Netherlands. Amel Majri was appointed by coach Corinne Diacre to the French 23-man squad for the 2019 World Cup in her own country .

So far Majri has played 57 international matches in the blue dress. Among the eight goals she scored is a hat trick that she succeeded in against Serbia in November 2019 on the occasion of the European Championship qualification , whereupon the women's football site footofeminin.fr referred to her verbatim in its report as "Amel Majrique".
