Selma Bacha (2018)

Selma Bacha (born November 9, 2000 in Lyon ) is a French soccer player who has been wearing the Olympique Lyon dress since she was a child .

Club career

Selma Bacha began playing club football as a child at the Lyon suburb FC Gerland . In 2009, the eight-year-old moved to the youth department of Olympique Lyon , where she ran through all the year -old teams. Up to and including the B-youth, the fast left-footed player played in one position in attack . At the age of 15, she was also regularly used in competitive U-19 games. Sonia Bompastor , head of the Olympiques youth center since 2013 and also active on the left-wing defense side, characterized the young woman with the words: “She was so far ahead of the others in her year in terms of her potential that it made no sense to her to play only in the youth teams ”. And Corine Franco added: "I think she has been at peace with herself since she was a child and a spokeswoman, [...] a joker, not at all reserved, but also willing to learn".

As a result, Reynald Pedros , the coach of Lyon's first women's eleven, helped Bacha to her first game in Division 1 Féminine in mid-October 2017 . Against ASJ Soyaux , the sixteen-year-old, who at that time already had a four-year contract with the professional team, was even in the starting line-up on the left defensive flank , alongside national players like Lucy Bronze , Kadeisha Buchanan and Wendie Renard . Later this season she came to ten more appearances in France's first division, and the following year she played two-thirds of all the French series champions' point games. Even more: Pedros also used the 1.61 m tall player in national and European cups , and not only in the early rounds of the two competitions, but also in the finals. Selma Bachas Palmarès already had two national and international championship titles as well as one victory in the national cup after their first two seasons in the adult division.
Thus, at the end of her first season, she was selected for the award for Best French Young Player 2018 .

In the junior selection (les Bleuettes) , which is also supervised by Gilles Eyquem , she wore the blue dress in 14 games so far.
