Sarah Bouhaddi
Sarah Bouhaddi (born October 17, 1986 in Cannes ) is a French soccer player . The goalkeeper is under contract with Olympique Lyon and plays for the French national team .
Club career
Until 2002, Bouhaddi played at Omnium Sports Monaco . Then she found admission to the national soccer training center and from 2003 - already at the age of 16 - was also the goalkeeper in the first division team CNFE Clairefontaine .
After a season (2005/06) at FC Toulouse , she moved to Juvisy FCF . In their second year with the Franciliennes they won the (unofficial) runner-up. For the 2009/10 season she joined Olympique Lyon, with whom she won eleven national championships from 2010 to 2020, seven national cups from 2012 to 2019 and the Champions League just as often ( 2011 , 2012 and 2016 to 2020 ). At the beginning of the 2015/16 season, she had to undergo shoulder surgery, which she played in a competitive game for the first time in mid-December 2015.
Sarah Bouhaddi has even scored two goals in her career so far. The first she succeeded in March 2003 for Clairefontaine in a 5-0 win over Olympique Saint-Memmie when she was used as an outfield player , the second in January 2015 with a penalty in Lyons 14-0 win against ASPTT Albi .
Bouhaddi is now considered one of the best goal women in the world, who occasionally makes a mistake, but has often enough decided games - like most recently the Champions League final in 2017 , in which she scored the decisive penalty and also hers at European level won fourth title. Three more Champions League victories followed from 2018 to 2019, making her one of only three players to have won this competition seven times.
Bouhaddi's contract in Lyon expired in the summer of 2020, and she had long since announced that she would play again for a club outside of France before ending her career. According to French media reports, this should be the Utah Royals FC from the US professional league National Women's Soccer League . However, due to the corona pandemic , which is spreading particularly rapidly in the United States , the goalkeeper extended her contract with Lyon for another four years in June 2020.

Bouhaddi made her senior team debut on February 21, 2004 in a game against Scotland . In 2005 she was part of the French squad at the European Championships in England. Surprisingly, she was not named for the final 2011 World Cup squad , but it was again from the beginning of 2012. She was part of the French Olympic squad in 2012 and played all six Bleues games in London . National coach Bruno Bini also called her to the 2013 French EM squad and used her in three of the four matches. Bouhaddi has played 149 times for the French national team so far, making her the French goalkeeper with the most A-Eleven appearances (as of March 4, 2020). She was accepted into the “ 100 Club ” in January 2016, exactly to the day after a seven-month break due to injury. Despite her immense experience, Bouhaddi occasionally shows weaknesses that repeatedly lead to goals conceded - lack of concentration when holding the ball, and the not always controlled initiation of her own attacks by foot from the penalty area. In France such “big blunders” are called boulettes .
