Joseph Freiherr von Syberg zu Sümmern (born November 20, 1800 ; † May 24, 1871 in Würzburg ) was Duke Nassau House Marshal , real secret councilor and director of the court theater .

family

He came from the noble family von Syberg and was the son of the Electorate of Cologne Chamberlain Nikolaus Günther Dionys Freiherr von Syberg zu Sümmern (born April 1, 1754 - December 28, 1832) and his second wife Therese born Freiin von Wittenbach (1759–1800), daughter of Privy councilor and regional law president Johann Nepomuk Freiherr von Wittenbach (1759–1831).

Joseph Freiherr von Syberg zu Sümmern, who was a Catholic denomination, married Isabelle, born Freiin von Dungern on November 19, 1843 in Weilburg (born August 31, 1811 in Weilburg; † December 28, 1886 in Lemberg ). She was the daughter of the secret government councilor, head stable master and member of the state parliament Friedrich Heinrich von Dungern and his wife Wilhelmine Louise nee. Lesch von Mühlheim and the sister of the Nassau State Minister Emil August von Dungern (1802–1862). The son Paul Freiherr von Syberg zu Sümmern (* 1848) emerged from the marriage.

Life

Joseph Freiherr von Syberg zu Sümmern studied law in Freiburg, Frankfurt, Würzburg and Gießen from 1819. During his studies he joined the Corps Suevia Freiburg , Moenania Würzburg and Rhenania Gießen. In 1843 he became Chamberlain of Nassau and in 1856 House Marshal of Duke Adolph . From 1845 to 1848 he was director of the Wiesbaden Court Theater . As a representative of the Count of Leiningen-Westerburg , he was a member of the First Chamber of the Estates of the Duchy of Nassau from 1852 to 1854 .
