Club career

Emmanuelle Sykora began her club career in her hometown at FC Pau , in whose women's team she was already used as a 15-year-old. The defender made such a good impression that she was signed to the senior national team in 1992 (see below) and from the successful FC Lyon . With his wife she won three French championship titles in the following twelve years , the first in her debut season 1992/93, also in 1995 and 1998; She was also runner-up with FC Lyon in 1994, 2003 and 2004. She was also successful in the women's cup competition for the Challenge de France, which was introduced in the 2001/02 season : Lyon won this title in 2003 and 2004, after the players in Sykora in 2002 were still defeated in the final.

When the women's division of the FCF joined neighboring Olympique Lyon in 2004 , Emmanuelle Sykora also wore the latter's dress for one season. This season she finished in third place in the league, and Olympique also reached the final in the Cup, in which Sykora, who was often set up in the defensive midfield in the later years of her career , was no longer used.

In the national team

In April and May 1992, while she was still at FC Pau, national coach Aimé Mignot placed Emmanuelle Sykora in four international matches in the French senior national team , where she became a regular player almost immediately and also from Mignot's successor Élisabeth Loisel (from 1997 ) was regularly taken into account. By April 2004, she played a total of 82 A matches, in which she scored ten goals. These included appearances against the national elves from German-speaking countries, most often against Switzerland (two wins in 1997 and 1998, one draw in 2001), twice against Germany (3-0 in March 1993, 1-0 in April 2003) and once against Austria (4: 1 in March 1999). Sykora was also involved in the previous record victory for the French (14-0 against Algeria in May 1998).

Sykora has taken part in three major international tournaments with the Bleues . At the 1997 European Championship , she played two of the three French preliminary round matches (against Russia and Sweden ). At this tournament, which was held in Norway and Sweden, the French just failed -  Spain was just one better goal difference - at advancing. She was also in France's squad for the 2001 European Championship in Germany and played all three matches in the preliminary round , at the end of which the Bleues had to return home early. Two years later she went to the USA with the squad for the World Cup , where she only came up in the 1-0 win against South Korea .
