The FC Craiova was a Romanian football club from Craiova . He belonged to Divizia A , the highest Romanian football league, for two seasons .

history

FC Craiova was founded in 1939 when the two clubs Craiu Iovan Craiova and Rovine Grivița Craiova merged. The new club took the place of Craiu Iovan in Divizia B and ended the season 1939-40 with the rise in the Divizia A . There the club completed the 1940/41 season on a place in midfield. Due to the outbreak of the Second World War , the following seasons are not considered official championships, so Craiova was able to finish the 1942/43 season in first place but was not allowed to call himself Romanian champions.

When the game was resumed after the end of the war, FC Craiova belonged again to Divizia A, but ended the 1946/47 season with only four points in the last place in the table. The following season in Divizia B completed the club in eleventh place of its season and had to relegate again due to the reduction of the league from four to two seasons. During the first half of 1948/49 in Divizia C , the club merged with local rivals AS Doljul Craiova and thus dissolved.
