The FC Erbach (officially: Football Club 1919 eV Erbach ) was a sports club from Erbach in the Odenwaldkreis . The first soccer team played for seven years in the then third-class Oberliga Hessen and once took part in the DFB Cup .

history

The club was founded in 1919 as VfR Erbach and dissolved in 1945. On October 10, 1945, the Erbach cultural and sports community was re-established . The football department split off on May 15, 1957 as FC Erbach. The club played under this name for many years at the local level, before being promoted to the Landesliga Hessen-Süd in 1980 under coach Wolfgang Solz and, two years later, jumping to the Oberliga Hessen. The sporting upswing is closely linked to the financial commitment of President Georg Roth.

In the 1982/83 promotion season , FC Erbach reached fourth place. In the following years, the team fell back into midfield and provided spectacular games such as a 5-9 defeat against FSV Frankfurt (1983/84 season) and 3-8 defeats against the amateurs of Kickers Offenbach and Viktoria Aschaffenburg ( 1984/85 season). In the 1985/86 season , the Odenwald took part in the DFB Cup and prevailed in round one against SC Birkenfeld . The end followed in the second round after a 0-1 defeat against Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin .

In March 1986, patron Roth angrily withdrew. After a few years in midfield in the league, relegation followed in 1989 after a 2: 4 defeat in the playoff against Viktoria Sindlingen . Four years later, FC Erbach also rose from the Landesliga Hessen-Süd, whereupon the club withdrew the team to the district league. From 2001, FC Erbach formed a syndicate with FSV Erbach , after merger talks had previously failed. In the syndicate, however, the FC Erbach felt exploited, whereupon the club left the syndicate and dissolved on December 31, 2008. With Jochen Müller , the club produced a Bundesliga player.
