The SC Birkenfeld 1919 e. V. is a football club from Birkenfeld in Rhineland-Palatinate .
history
The association was founded on June 14, 1919.
1983/84 SC Birkenfeld succeeded as champions of the Association League Southwest promotion to the Oberliga Southwest , the then highest German amateur league. After two fourth places, the club was third in the table in the 1987/88 season behind 1. FSV Mainz 05 and Eintracht Trier . A total of six years they stayed in the league before relegation followed in 1990.
In 1984/85 SC Birkenfeld also won the South West Cup with a 6-5 win after extra time and penalty shoot-out against the eventual South West champion Wormatia Worms . As a result, the club qualified for the first main round in the 1985/86 DFB Cup and lost 2-1 at FC Erbach .
For the 2019/20 season, the club plays in the district league Nahe of the Southwest German Football Association .
