Bastian Becker (born June 21, 1979 in Kusel ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper .
Career
Becker's professional career began in 2001 at Karlsruher SC , for which he played five appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga . After two years he moved to VfB Leipzig , which he left after only half a year. From January 2004 he played at SV Darmstadt 98 . A highlight of his time with the "Lilien" was the DFB Cup match against Hertha BSC on September 10, 2006, which however was lost 1-0 after extra time. In the 2007/08 season Becker was a regular goalkeeper and captain of SV Darmstadt 98, left the lilies after winning the league championship and the Hessen Cup and moved to third division club SSV Jahn Regensburg .
There he was used as a goalkeeper until his injury-related departure on November 8, 2008 in the 80th minute in the 1-1 draw against VfB Stuttgart II. After his recovery, however, he only sat on the substitute bench. According to reports from the club's management, he has now been terminated without notice. Nothing is known about the reasons for his dismissal. In the 2010/11 season Becker played in the second team of 1. FC Kaiserslautern . For the 2011/12 season he switched to the team's coaching staff and became the U23 athletic coach. Becker also set up his own goalkeeping school to teach young players his knowledge and skills.
