The women's football division of Málaga CF from Spain was established on June 9, 2016 after the incorporation of Club Atlético Málaga.

history

Club Atlético Málaga , founded in 1992, was the successor to the Málaga Club de Fútbol Femenino , founded in 1984 and a pioneer of women's football in Andalusia . He played first class for fifteen years and won the national championship, cup and super cup triple in 1998 . After the turn of the millennium there was a sporting decline and the replacement by Sporting Huelva as the supreme power in Andalusian women's football. After a phase of second division, the club managed to return to the Primera División in 2009, where he was able to hold out for three seasons until relegation in 2012.

In its club colors and in the design of its emblem, Atlético had already borrowed a lot from the traditional local club FC Málaga . On June 9, 2016, he was finally incorporated into these. As the second division champion of the 2017/18 season, he was promoted to the Spanish House of Lords in the 2018/19 season. As the bottom of the table, the club rose immediately back to the second division this season.
