Walter Durth

Walter Durth (born January 10, 1935 in Betzdorf ; † December 6, 2017 ) was a German traffic engineer . He was a professor at the Technical University of Darmstadt . He was a brother of Werner Durth .

Life

Durth received his doctorate in Darmstadt in 1972. From 1964 he was with the Hessian Road Administration and most recently headed the Autobahn Office in Frankfurt am Main from 1974 . From 1979 to 1997 he was professor for road engineering in Darmstadt. He wrote standard works on road planning, road design and road operation and dealt in particular with the factors influencing the alignment and winter road service in relation to road safety. In 1996 he received the badge of honor from the Research Association for Roads and Transport .
