The FC Naters is a Swiss football club from the town of Naters . In 2012, the first team to play in the first division went to the newly founded FC Oberwallis Naters, which was supported by FC Naters. Since then, FC Naters has played in the second division.

history

The association was founded in 1958. On June 16, 1958, the club began playing in the 4th division . In the 1960/61 season one was already "Wallisermeister" and took part in the playoff. This playoff on June 25, 1961 against FC Evionnaz was won 6-1 and was promoted to the 3rd division . After the 1969/70 season, the club celebrated promotion to the second division, which was then still undivided . In 1970/71 they became "Wallisermeister" of the 2nd division and thus took part in the decision-making round for promotion to the 1st division . However , the club lost the last and decisive game against Central Friborg and remained in the 2nd division. In 1972 the association founds a supporter association whose goals are to support the association morally and financially. After the 1978/79 season, FC Naters I had to relegate to the third division. The forced relegation leads the 2nd team of FC Naters into the 4th league. 1979/80 the club is again "Valais champions" and thus rises back to the 2nd division. After only one year, the club had to leave this again. It was not until 1990/91 that they made it to the second division again. After only one year, the team managed to become Valais champions again in the 1991/92 season and also won the promotion game against FC Friborg 6-0. This was the first time in the club's history that they were promoted to the third highest division, the first division. In the same year the "100 Club" and the first official fan club were founded. At Whitsun 1992, the club held an international junior football tournament for the first time, the "Cup of the Alps". In the first season in the 1st division, the club reached 4th place in the table (out of 14th teams). On March 7, 1993, Jean-Paul Brigger played his first game in FC Naters' dress. The game against Grand-Lancy ended 1-1. For the 1993/94 season, Jean-Paul Brigger was coach. FC Naters I will group winners and can rise to the games for the National League B participate. But there you lose against FC Solothurn . In the 1994/95 season, coach Brigger switched to FC Luzern . Charly In-Albon is the new coach . Despite the change of coach, the team is again group winners and thus takes part in the promotion games again. By winning the second leg against FC Bulle 4: 2 (first leg 2: 2), the club is promoted to National League B. After 2 years you rose after the 1995/96 season by an 8th place in the NLB West Group in the 1st division.

In the summer of 2012, FC Oberwallis was launched together with FC Brig-Glis and FC Visp . Since then, the first team of FC Naters has played in the first division as a joint representative of the three clubs under the name FC Oberwallis Naters. The new first team of FC Naters plays in the 2nd division.

The Stapfen sports complex was inaugurated on October 20, 1997. The Stapfen stadium has a capacity of 3000 seats. The main stand has a capacity of 2500 seats. In addition, the sports complex has another grandstand with a capacity of 500 seats. There is still standing room for several 100 people around the entire playing field.
