The soccer club Stein 1909 eV , FC Stein for short , is a sports club from the Middle Franconian town of Stein with departments for soccer , tennis and gymnastics .
The club became known nationwide for its football department. When the third-rate Bavarian amateur league was divided into a north and a south Bavarian season for the 1953 season, FC Stein was promoted to the new Northern Bavarian amateur league. The FC belonged to this league for one season. The 14th place in the table was not enough for relegation.
Well-known former players
- Karl Gußner , moved from the youth of FC to 1. FC Nürnberg and became German champion with them in 1935
- After his time at FC Stein, Manfred Ritschel played 231 times in the Bundesliga and three times for the German national team
- From 1962, Waldemar Schweinberger was player-coach for FC Stein for ten years. Before that, he played 160 games in the Oberliga Süd for 1. FC Nürnberg and SpVgg Fürth .
- Frank Türr , moved from the youth team of FC to 1. FC Nürnberg and played for them and VfL Bochum 76 times in the 1. Bundesliga.
