Febo is a fast food chain in the Netherlands . The founder began with bread and confectionery.

history

In 1941 Johan Izaäk de Borst (1919–2008) founded Maison Febo . What began as a bakery developed into a business with snack vending machines (see vending machine restaurant ) for the sale of homemade croquettes . De Borst had modern large kitchens built to increase the production of croquettes. As a result, he was able to set up branches across the country beyond Amsterdam. Branches were set up in Purmerend , Hoorn and Hoofddorp . Borst expanded production and had a new factory built in Amsterdam North , which still produces other snacks in addition to croquettes . In 1990 de Borst's son took over the company, de Borst sr. died on May 8, 2008.

organization

The Febo organization is a franchise organization . In 2009, Febo had 68 branches, 54 of which were franchise-based. In July 2007 , a new Febo production center was opened in Amsterdam North, near the Coentunnel , in order to further optimize production, cooling and delivery of the products.

Trivia

The name Febo is derived from the Fe rdinand Bo lstraat in the Amsterdam district de Pijp where de Borst learned his baker. In contrast to popular claims, the first branch was not on Ferdinand Bolstraat, but on Karperweg (side street of Amstelveense Weg). The Febo location in Ferdinand Bolstraat was only added in the 1990s.
