Franz Phoebus
Franz Phoebus ( French : François Phébus or François-Febus , Spanish : Francisco Febo , * November / December 1466 , † January 30, 1483 in Pamplona ) was King of Navarre from 1479 to 1483.
He was the only son of Gaston von Foix ( 1444-1470 ), Prince of Viana (1462-1470), and Madeleine of France (1443-1495), sister of the French King Louis XI.
In 1472, when his paternal grandfather, Gaston IV. Von Foix , died, he inherited his title at the age of five, namely Count of Foix , Co-Prince of Andorra , Vice-Count of Béarn , Count of Bigorre and Peer of France . In 1479, on the death of his paternal grandmother, Eleanor of Navarre , he inherited the crown of the Kingdom of Navarre from her at the age of twelve. Since he was still a minor, he was under the rule of his mother in all offices.
His short and hard-fought reign ended when he was poisoned while playing the flute. He died unmarried and childless. He was succeeded by his sister Katharina .
