Johann von Foix (* after 1450; † November 5, 1500 in Étampes ) was Count of Étampes and Vice-Count of Narbonne .

He was the third son of Gaston IV , Count of Foix and Eleanor , Queen of Navarre . His older brother was Gaston de Foix , Prince of Viana . From his father he received the vicestoy of Narbonne.

In 1476 he married Maria von Orléans, sister of the future French king Louis XII. with whom he had two children:

He received the county of Étampes from the French king.

After the death of his nephew Franz Phoebus in 1483, Johann claimed the succession to the throne in Navarre, invoking Salian law , which was never applied in Navarre. The result was a war between Johann and his niece Katharina von Navarra , who had succeeded her brother, and which could only be settled in 1497 in favor of Katharina. In a contract concluded in Tarbes , Johann was forced to give up his claims. He died three years later.
