FIH Hockey World League / 2016–2017 Round 2 (women)
The second round of the FIH Hockey World League / 2016-2017 women took place between January 14th and April 9th 2017 in a total of three tournaments.

Point rule
In contrast to most hockey competitions, a shoot-out was then played in the first two rounds in the group stage in the event of a tie and the winner received two points. The loser stayed with one point.
mode
All three tournaments had the same mode. A total of eight nations took part in one tournament. These nations were divided into two groups of four. A simple group stage was played. Then the quarter-finals were played where the first of each group played against the last of the other group. The second in each group played his quarter-finals against the third in the other group. The losers in the quarterfinals played from five to eight among themselves. The winners first took part in the semifinals and then in the final (or game for third place).
Kuala Lumpur
The tournament in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia took place from January 14th to January 22nd, 2017. The first two qualified directly for the Hockey World League semifinals. The third, Italy , qualified as he was among the two world rankings of all tournament third .
