FK Daugava Riga is a Latvian football club from Riga .
History: The FK Jūrmala
The club was founded in 2003 as FK Jūrmala (FK = Futbola Klubs) in Jūrmala . In their very first season, the first team of FK Jūrmala became champions of the first līga , the second highest Latvian league. Since then she has played with varying, mostly moderate success in the highest Latvian football league, the Virslīga .
In 2007 the association ran into financial difficulties. The well-rehearsed team could not be held; so a sporting crash followed.
In the 2010 season, FK Jūrmala reached the final of the Latvian Club Cup again and was defeated there by FK Jelgava on penalties.
FK Daugava Riga
In March 2012, FK Jūrmala was renamed FK Daugava Riga . The reason for this was that there were three football clubs in Jūrmala that had to share a stadium. That's why they moved to the capital Riga .
In the 2012 season, the FK Daugava Riga saved from relegation by winning in the relegation against the BFC Daugava . In the 2013 season, the team, reinforced by new, good players, was able to consolidate.
