The E.600 of Ferrovie Nord Milano are a series of electric locomotives that were built between 1928 and 1929.
history
In the 1920s, decided Ferrovie Nord Milano , the railway line Milan-Saronno 3 kV DC - catenary electrification. This system was also experimented with in the same years by the Ferrovie dello Stato on the Benevento – Foggia railway line , where it later became common.
In addition to the electric multiple units, the FNM ordered six electric locomotives built by Officine Meccaniche (OM) with electrical equipment from Compagnia Generale di Elettricità (CGE). They were delivered in 1928–1929.
In 1962 the E.600-5 was scrapped due to an accident. The other pieces were used until the early 2000s. Today only the E.600-3 is operational, the others remain as historic locomotives.
Paintwork
The E.600 were delivered in a black livery, analogous to the contemporary Ferrovie dello Stato vehicles . Later they received the new maroon-isabel-colored (" castano-Isabella ") paintwork of the FS.
From 1981 the machines were given the new FNM paintwork, white and yellow. From 1996 they got the so-called “regional paintwork”, in the colors of the Lombardy region , white, light green and light blue.
