The FORMA - Centro Internazionale di Fotografia is a museum and a gallery for contemporary photography in Milan . It was founded in 2005 by Fotospazio , a cooperation between the Fondazione Corriere della Sera and the Contrasto photo agency . The building used for the exhibitions, a historic former tram office in Porta Ticinese (Milan), was provided by the Milan transport authority ATM ( Azienda Trasporti Milanesi ). In addition to the numerous important photographic exhibitions, there are also film screenings, lectures and other informational events on photographic art in the large rooms. The concept of a “House of Photography” goes beyond a mere museum and corresponds to that of the International Center of Photography in New York .

The presentations and actions are mainly divided into three subject areas:

History of Photography

In this section the most important photographers of the 20th century and their most important works are presented in order to bring the audience closer to the decisive developments in the field of photography, also in connection with journalism . The offer is aimed primarily at schools, interested amateurs and students of photography.

Master of Photography

An annual special exhibition that is primarily dedicated to well-known Italian photographers such as Mimmo Jodice , but also covers the most important international, contemporary artists of the genre. In 2007 the main exhibition was dedicated to the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson . B. Sebastião Salgado , Peter Lindbergh or Martin Parr .

Master of fashion photography and portraits

This part of the program deals with the sub-area of ​​fashion photography and contemporary portrait photography , whereby the commercial use of the medium is also given special emphasis.
