Other names FU Orionis

FU Orionis is a star about 1150  light years away . It is the prototype of the FU Orionis stars , which belong to the eruptive variable stars . FU Orionis is a pre-main sequence star that has not yet stabilized. This also makes it difficult to determine a spectral class . There are indications of a companion that would make FU Orionis a binary star system .
