action

The former sculptor Lee Hyun-min works in a forensic institute where he reconstructs faces from skulls. To spend more time with his sick daughter Jin, he quits his job. Jin is supposed to have a heart transplant from doctor Dr. Get yoon.

The police and the prospective researcher Sun-Young turn to Hyun-min, because he is supposed to examine the skull of a victim whose body was burned to the bone with acid. At first Hyun-min refuses the assignment, but when he and his daughter are haunted by the spirit of the victim, he tries to find answers and begins to reconstruct the face of the dead woman. When Jin suddenly has problems with the transplanted heart, Hyun-min asks Dr. Yoon for information on the donor's history.

The doctor does not want to give him any information about it and insists on discretion. This makes him the main suspect of the detective Suh, who is responsible for investigating the murder of the dead woman. Hyun-min has a premonition and finds another skull that was buried a long time ago. When Hyun-min reconstructs the dead man's face, he comes across an eerie secret that puts everyone involved in danger. The skull belongs to Sun-Young, which means that she was the ghost that haunted Hyun-min and his daughter.

It also turns out that the victims all suffered from the disease "beta allergy". Also Hyun-min's daughter, because she received the heart of someone suffering from beta allergies. Hyun-min, in collaboration with the police, reveals a secret organ transplant plot . People were only murdered for their body parts, and Dr. Yoon transplants them.

Reviews

Beyond Hollywood criticized: “There's not much that can be found original about“ Face ”, even if you're only vaguely familiar with Asian horror films. All of this has been seen much better in films like “Phone” or “Into the Mirror”. [...] “The unoriginality of“ Face ”is shocking and the filmmaker Yoo Sang-gon does not meet the expectations one would expect of him.

Says Korean Grindhouse, “I've never thought of how harrowing it must be to find out that the life-saving heart for your daughter was obtained by a serial killer working with a dubious cardiologist. Director Yoo Sang-gon and his scriptwriters haven't addressed this troubled thought either, although they may have realized that it was a key component of the horror flick “Face”.
