The Association of the Printing Industry and Information Processing e. V. (FDI) is a German professional association in the field of the printing and media industry . It has a two-tier organizational structure: the federal association and the districts.
organization
The FDI went from the end of the 19th century founded German factors bund out, a group of foremen in printing offices . Today, the association serves members of the printing and media industry to obtain information and further training in the areas of printing technology , business administration , personnel management , human resources , contract law , product liability , marketing , environmental protection and ISO certification . The range of topics also includes cross-sector as well as social and socio-political topics.
These topics are explored and brought closer in monthly specialist lectures, excursions to manufacturers, colleagues, research institutions and related companies. There are up to 350 events a year in over 30 locations. The district structure is carried out on a voluntary basis by board members, the federal office is full-time.
Colleague network
In addition to the technical activities, the focus is on communication and the exchange of ideas. Social-cultural events and collaborations make the FDI a network of colleagues. This includes services for the professional and private sector, including through cooperation partners.
Since hardly any other industry has been characterized by such rapid technological change in recent years as the printing and media industry, the FDI was reorganized under the motto Der FDI im Wandel on the occasion of its 20th general assembly in 2004 to meet the requirements of the members a modern professional association. On the occasion of the Federal General Assembly in 2016, the name was changed to Fachverband der Druckindustrie und Informationsverarbeitung e. V. decided. The association has thus opened up to the broad spectrum of the media industry such as the advertising industry and young talent. Now all employees - whether apprentices or young students - can become members of a large, professionally-oriented network.

- Teaching and Research.
Entrepreneurship of the year award
Every year since 2005, the FDI has honored an outstanding entrepreneur in the printing industry. The award goes to an entrepreneur or employed manager who leads his company in an exemplary manner in several respects or who bears entrepreneurial responsibility in a leading position. An artistic trophy was specially created for the award. So far, the winners have been:
