François "Faf" de Klerk (born October 19, 1991 in Nelspruit ) is a South African rugby union player in the scrum half position . He started his professional career in 2012 with the Pumas from Mpumalanga and the Lions in super rugby . From 2016 de Klerk played for the Golden Lions in Johannesburg , from where he moved to the Sale Sharks in England in 2017 . In 2016 he was appointed to the South African national team for the first time, where he developed into an important player. At the Rugby Union World Cup 2019 he was named "Player of the Match" in the quarter-finals against Japan and won the final with his team.
