Falk Wienecke (born May 30, 1944 in Magdeburg ; † March 19, 2010 in Bremen ) was a German doctor and film author.

Life

After his birth in Magdeburg, he spent his childhood and school days in Bremen. He studied medicine and sociology in Berlin, Hamburg and Freiburg.

At first he worked as a specialist in various hospitals in northern Germany, then he was employed in the field of medicine at the Institute for Scientific Film in Göttingen. This was followed by permanent positions as a film writer for the weekly "ZEIT-TV" magazine of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit and at NDR in Hamburg, as well as a freelance creative phase as a freelance documentary filmmaker in Bremen. Wienecke's films were broadcast on ZDF and 3sat , and in various third-party programs.

The main focus of his work as a journalist was the critical consideration of the interrelationships between medicine, science, economy and society as well as background research on politically explosive topics. His more extensive documentaries are devoted, among other things, to the circumstances of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster , the development of brain research and Rupert Sheldrake's theories on expanding consciousness.

After almost 20 years as a journalist, Wienecke finally returned to medical work and worked for several years in the occupational health service. After a sudden serious illness, he died shortly after his retirement in the spring of 2010 in Bremen.
