Famos was a state-owned enterprise (VEB) of the GDR , which produced tools and toys and was known in particular for stamp sets and similar products.

history

In 1891 the company Leipziger Stempelwaren FAMOS GmbH was founded with its headquarters in Leipzig . It was nationalized in 1952 to become VEB Famos Leipziger Stempelwaren- und Maschinenfabrik. There was another plant in Roßwein .

On February 1, 1955, the word and figurative mark was registered under the registration number DD602623. On July 4, 1989, the entry was deleted before the works were converted into a GmbH.

The combine produced stamps of all kinds such as date and number band stamps, date stamps with text plates, pagination machines and metal date stamps , time clocks , stamp pads , stamp inks, stamp carriers, stamp boxes, rubber type assortments (alphabets, digits for business purposes ), vulcanizing presses for rubber stamp production, rubber stamping presses, die powder, toy printing boxes Stamp games, children's mail games).

After the transformation into a GmbH in 1990, all workers were laid off and the company closed. No return claims were made. By November 1993, parts of the many small branches in Plagwitz (Leipzig) in the old industrial area in the west of the city were destroyed and demolished.

revival

In 2013 a new company was founded under the name famoswerk with headquarters in Potsdam . Based on the original Famos range, Famoswerk is again selling stamp goods with the old motifs.
