The fifth in the group is the dog Timmy (actually Timotheus ).
Production and publication
The series was produced in 2008 by Disney Europe, France 3 , Marathon Media Group and Chorion. Directed by Pascal Pinon and Thierry Sapyn, the music was composed by Fabrice Aboulker and Pascal Stive. The producers tried to stay as close as possible to the themes of the book series. The series first aired on April 5, 2008 on Disney Channel in the UK.

reception
The series was criticized by the Enid Blyton Society because the characters are moved into the modern age and so the audience gets the impression that Five Friends is about "technical gimmicks and multi-culturalism" . The characters are very different from the books and the series doesn't have much in common with Enid Blyton's work.
