Fanchette Verhunc , also Fanchette Verhunck and Fandetta Verhunc , actually Franja Verhunc , married Fanchette Prüwer (born August 8, 1875 in Laibach , Austria-Hungary ; † November 11, 1944 in Golnik , Krain ) was a Slovenian opera singer ( soprano ) and singing teacher .

Life

Fanchette Verhunc had a crush on music from childhood. As she grew up, she took lessons from Professor Josef Gänsbacher and Felice Mancio and went to the stage. After graduating from the Vienna Conservatory, she was initially engaged for a short time at the Berlin Court Opera , then came to Posen to work through her repertoire, and from here, after working for a year, went to the City Theater in Breslau. In 1901 she was invited to take part in the Bayreuth Festival , where she was assigned the “Freya”, “Ortlinde” and “First Knapp” in Parsifal .

In 1901 she appeared at the Dresden Court Opera, in 1902 at the Munich Court Opera and in 1903 at the Vienna Court Opera.

In 1907 she sang the title role of "Salome" in the opera of the same name by Richard Strauss at the Vienna Volksoper in the Vienna premiere of this opera. She also appeared as a guest in Amsterdam and Budapest. In 1916 she gave a charity concert in Breslau and then took her stage farewell in 1917 to work as a vocal teacher in Breslau.

In 1938 she lived in Frankfurt am Main, but returned to her Slovenian homeland.

She was married to the conductor Julius Prüwer .
