Fanny Elizabeth Vining Davenport ( 1829 in Bath , Somerset , England - July 20, 1891 in Canton , Pennsylvania , USA ) was an English stage actress .

Life

She made her US debut on March 2, 1855 and her last appearance was on April 7, 1890 in the role of Lady Macbeth .

Fanny Elizabeth Vining was the daughter of Frederick Augustus Vining, the manager of the Theater Royal Haymarket and J. Marian Bew. In 1849 she married Edward Loomis Davenport (1815–1877), son of Asher and Denis (Loomis) Davenport. At Edward's side, Fanny Davenport completed the majority of her appearances. From this marriage, depending on the source, eight or nine children emerged, four of whom also became actors.

Blanche Davenport became an opera singer. Fanny Davenport's granddaughter Dorothy Davenport , daughter of her son Harry, also became an actress.
