Fanny Puyesky

Fanny Puyesky (born July 23, 1939 in Montevideo , Uruguay , † October 15, 2010 ) was a Uruguayan writer , journalist and feminist.

Life

Puyesky, who was a lawyer by profession and specialized there in women's rights (Derechos económicos de la mujer), was described as the "first feminist of Uruguay". From 1982 she also worked as a staff member and columnist for El Correo de los Viernes , Brecha , Aquí and Zeta . At Zeta she was also a member of the publishing council (Consejo Editorial). From 1989 to 1996 she also worked with La República de las Mujeres . She was also active at the radio station CX 8 Radio Sarandí . From 1983 to 1985 and again from 1985 to 1987 she was a member of the board of directors of the Bar Association (Colegio de Abogados).

Puyesky published numerous publications, including the Manual para divorciadas , which was published in several editions and also in Portuguese in 1996 . She died of a cerebral aneurysm at the age of 71 and was buried in the Jewish cemetery in La Paz.
